A Little Update

Well, would you believe that today we have some news about what’s next and we’re excited. Monday evening (March 22nd), we received a call from our Stake President, Richard Jackson. He related some of the recent happenings. Apparently, the reaction of Brother Doty, who heads up the committee to look at missionaries with medical issues didn’t think we would be able to return to Armenia, but then he called and talked with Doug Smith, our friend and cardiologist who answered his questions. After some consideration and discussion, the missionary committee came to a decision, that we could return to the mission field and Armenia…BUT they want us to stay stateside (either here or California, working with the Armenians) for a couple of months…and if everything is a-okay then we’ll return to Armenia. Brother Johnson of the missionary committee asked us how our Armenian was…and Elder Peterson had to admit that we recognize when someone is speaking Armenian, but just not sure what they are saying the majority of the time.

March 25, 2010: We’re still awaiting a call from the missionary department about where and when. We hopefully will know a little more by the weekend. In the meantime, we're taking a little hiatus to Las Vegas to watch our daughter, Alisa Thomason appearing in an opera, L'Eliser d'Amore. Check it out at http://www.operalv.info/ if you're in the area and want to go. We may also make a run over to Phoenix to see a couple of other children and their families...depending. We'll keep you posted! We love and appreciate all of you!!!

Remember you can check out our photos on photobucket.

  1. Hooray!!! This is exciting news!!! I just wish you could get back out there sooner!

    P.S.
You know... if you'd like to hone up your Armenian speaking skills, I could always talk to Maria... :)

  2. Hi Roger and Patti,
We appreciate being included in your updates and can appreciate how frustrating all of the delays must be. We can also appreciate that Roger would like to reduce the number of medications he is taking. It is one of the bane to a senior citizen. Bob and I are always wondering at the end of the day if we took our "pills". Bob is three months out from his quaduple by-pass surgery and I am four months out froma hernia operation where I flat-lined for about 75 seconds. All is well. Bob's progress has been much slower than mine which is creating a lesson in patience. The kids are all well. We are starting to get grandchildren in college and it is fun to watch their development. Where are the Byers now? Great news about your possible return to Armenia. Love, Linda and Bob Peterson
